HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) _ Gov. Dannel P. Malloy is urging residents to put on blue and white for a “Husky Weekend” as the University of Connecticut women’s basketball team heads for the NCAA Final Four.

Malloy proclaimed the special weekend for Friday through Sunday, when UConn plays Notre Dame in Denver. He says he’ll extend it to Tuesday if they advance to the championship.

Malloy said the UConn women’s fifth straight trip to the Final Four inspires “hundreds of young basketball fans who want to follow in their footsteps.”
