State Police Investigate Debit Card Fraud

State Police are seeking the public’s help in identifying two men suspected to stealing an individual’s debit card information and fabricating their own bogus cards to buy gift cards at Stop and Shop and other stores in the greater Hartford area.

Police say the pair obtained the credit card information through an unknown means and used the fraudulent cards to buy more than $2,000 worth of gift cards at stores in Bristol, Wethersfield, Glastonbury, Rocky Hill, Newington, East Hartford, Hartford, West Hartford, and New Paltz, New York.

Both suspects are described as black males in their 20s. The first was wearing an olive drab jacket, tan pants, and tan work boots. The second suspect wore a dark blue winter coat, jeans, and white sneakers.

The two were observed getting into a white four-door sedan.
