Southington Police have arrested a local man after he accidentally called 911 as he was allegedly stealing scrap metal from a local business.

Michael Gorneau, 46, of Queen Street is charged with third-degree trespassing and sixth-degree larceny.

Police say Gorneau was in the process of stealing roughly $700 worth of scrap metal from a business on Spring Street Thursday morning when the cell phone he was wearing accidentally called the emergency number.

Gorneau is free on $5,000 bond and due in court April 2.
