Two Injured In Manchester Fire

MANCHESTER, Conn. (AP) _ An early morning fire in a Manchester motel room injured two men and caused smoke damage to about a dozen other rooms.

Firefighters responded to the Manchester Inn on East Center Street at about 4:30 a.m. Thursday. Officials say a man in the room where the fire broke out is hospitalized with burns to his hands and arms. Another man who was staying in the room above the one that caught fire is being treated at a local hospital for smoke inhalation.

Their names haven’t been released.

Firefighters got the blaze under control in about 10 minutes, but a dozen of the motel’s 42 rooms were left with smoke damage. Nearly 40 people were staying at the motel at the time.

Local officials are investigating the cause of the fire.
