Jury To Hear Arguments In 1990s Deaths Of Two Women

NEW LONDON, Conn. (AP) _ A state jury in New London is set to begin hearing evidence in the trial of a city man charged with murdering two women in the late 1990s.
Forty-one-year-old Dickie Anderson Jr. is scheduled to go on trial Tuesday. He’s pleaded not guilty in the killings of 41-year-old Rene Pellegrino in her hometown of Waterford in 1997 and 29-year-old Michelle Comeau of Norwich, whose body was found near the Norwich-Franklin line in 1998.
Anderson was arrested in police cold case investigations in 2010. He denies allegations that he strangled both women.
Police say the two women both had histories of prostitution and drug use. Authorities say Anderson told them he would often give prostitutes crack cocaine in exchange for sex.
