Fatal Accident Closes Route 6

Farmington police are investigating a fatal accident on Route 6 this morning.   The accident shortly before 6 a.m. closed Route 6 in both directions between Hyde Road and New Britain Avenue.  Police say the 83-year-old pedestrian was was in his own vehicle, westbound,  pulled over at the intersection of Hyde Road and Route 6 and for some reason, got out of his vehicle and was walking in the roadway  when he was hit. His own vehicle was still running.   The  driver of the vehicle which hit him,  an older model Mustang,  stopped after the accident.
