A 52-year-old Marble Dale (a section of Washington, Conn.) man is dead after a Thursday afternoon one-vehicle crash in New Milford.

Police say he was driving around 3:40 p.m. along Litchfield Road when he veered into oncoming traffic, back into his lane and then off the road, crashing into a tree, rock and coming to a stop in a river bed off the roadway. He was extricated from the vehicle and taken via Lifestar to Hartford Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

His name hasn’t yet been released. Police are investigating the crash.
