Campus Shuttle Strikes Student

DANBURY, Conn. (AP) _ Authorities say a 21-year-old student at Western Connecticut State University remains hospitalized after being struck by a car on the Danbury campus.

Police say Daniel Fitzpatrick of Wilton was hit Thursday night after getting off a shuttle bus and crossing University Boulevard. A Danbury Hospital spokeswoman said he remained hospitalized Friday in fair condition.

Police say the driver of the vehicle that struck him is another student, but no charges were immediately announced.

The incident is the second time in recent months that a Western Connecticut State student has struck another student.
Brookfield resident Dong Lin died of injuries he received when he was struck in November on a road near the campus.

The driver who allegedly hit him is cooperating with police, but their investigation remained open Friday.
