Separate Standoffs With Police In Beacon Falls, Bristol

BEACON FALLS, Conn. (AP and staff reports) _ Police in Beacon Falls were outside a home where a man was believed to be armed barricaded himself inside after a domestic dispute.  The standoff has now ended.

Officers responded to the home on Church Street at about 2:30 a.m. Monday. Tactical teams were at the scene and police tried to communicate with the man.

Several homes in the neighborhood were evacuated as a precaution.

The incident follows an unrelated 10-hour police stand-off in Bristol, where an armed man who had been threatening to harm himself surrendered to officers at about 5 a.m. Monday. No one else was in the home.

Fifty-eight-year-old Bruce Berube is being held on $50,000 bail on charges of reckless endangerment, threatening and breach of peace.
