Coast Guard Expelling Cadets In Synthetic Marijuana Case

The Coast Guard Academy says it is in the process of expelling 14 cadets alleged to have used synthetic marijuana,  and is looking into eight other cases.  A statement from the academy says use of the substance at the academy is expressly prohibited.

The cadets being “disenrolled” have the right to appeal to the Coast Guard’s Assistant Commandant for Human Resources in Washington.

Academy Superintendent says the use of synthetic marijuana “is a troubling issue nationwide, and says the incident, though troubling,  is not indicative of the behavior of the Corps of Cadets.
