Copper Pipes Being Stolen From Future Hartford Police HQ
In recent months, people have been stealing copper pipes from the future home of the Hartford Police Department.
The public safety complex on High Street is still under construction.
Hartford city spokesperson Nancy Mulroy says the most recent arrest — the third so far — was made yesterday.
“There have been several incidents of theft of copper piping from this construction site,” Mulroy said. “We have been investigating it, we did solve two cases back in May and June of this year. We recovered 880 feet of copper piping.”
The most recent theft arrestee is Allen Hall-Davis of Hartford. He faces larceny and drug charges, in connection with thefts reported November 25 and November 29.
Mulroy said in a previous theft, about $7,000 worth of items were stolen, and about $50,000 in damage was done.
Mulroy said while the public safety complex is being built, security is the responsibility of the construction company.
