HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) _ Gov. Dannel P. Malloy is urging the members of the legislative committee charged with redrawing Connecticut’s legislative and congressional district lines to get their work done on time.
The bipartisan panel of mostly legislative leaders is facing a Nov. 30 deadline to come up with a plan.
Originally, the group included eight members and had until September to redraw the lines. But given the large task of redrawing the district lines, the panel asked Malloy for an extension and appointed a tie-breaking ninth member. State lawmakers did the same thing 10 years ago during the last reapportionment.
Malloy said Tuesday that the committee members “should get their act together and get reappointment done.” He said it will be “a gigantic failure” if they miss the Nov. 30 deadline.
