Damage In Metal Thefts Estimated At Quarter-Million Dollars
State police say they’ve arrested 13 people in a crackdown into the theft of pipe and wiring from empty buildings in Pomfret, with more arrests expected. Police say the thefts — which totaled an estimated quarter-million-dollars damage — took place over a several month period last year, with different people going into the buildings at the former Steak-Ums complex on Searles Road.
In a coordinated effort Wednesday troopers served warrants and took suspects into custody on charged of burglary, larceny and criminal mischief.
Arrested were 22-year-old Ryan Ploof, 24-year-old John Maximowicz, 28-year-old Bradley Toper, 27-year-old Collin Bowns, and 25-year-old Christopher Daly, all of Danielson; 23-year-old Shawn Beaudreau of Brooklyn; 28-year-old Benjamin Davidson of Thompson; 25-year-old Brianna Welch, 24-year old Christina St. Jean, 32-year-old Jason Cayen and 25-year-old Matthew Jolley of Dayville, 25-year-old Eugene Beaudreau of Rogers and 28-year-old Christopher Carnelli of Moosup.
