Four-Pound Pot Bust in Torrington

A 33-year-old Torrington man was arrested Friday afternoon when it was discovered that a package going to his house at 50 Canterbury Court in Torrington contained four pounds of marijuana. Police say around 3:30 p.m. a delivery company contacted them around when a package, originating from Fresno, Calif., broke open because of water damage, spilling out marijuana.

Alex Phimphisane’s home was later searched and an additional four ounces of pot were found, along with drug scales, packaging material and $3147 in cash. Police estimate the street value of the pot at $10,000. Phimphisane’s 1995 Honda Civic was also seized as it was used in the transport of the marijuana. He was charged with possession with intent to sell one kilogram or more of marijuana, risk of injury to a minor and possession of drug paraphernalia.

He’s being held on $200,000 bond.
