STORRS, Conn. (AP) _ Basketball fans will soon get their first chance to see this year’s University of Connecticut men’s and women’s teams at Gampel Pavilion.
Practice opens on Friday with the annual “First Night” show, a free event that will feature an autograph session, a dunk and three-point contest, and other games.
The school also is promising surprise guest appearances by former UConn basketball greats. Some former UConn men’s stars have been hanging out in Storrs this fall during the NBA lockout.
The UConn men are coming off the program’s third national championship. The women are coming off a Final Four appearance.
The autograph session begins at 7 p.m. Friday. The show starts at 8 p.m.
