Connecticut officials welcomed Interior Secretary Ken Salazar to Hartford Saturday for a tour of the city’s Coltsville Historic District.  Governor Dannel Malloy, First District Congressman John Larson and Senator Richard Blumenthal accompanied the secretary.

Coltsville has been designated a National Historic Landmark,  and officials hope to have it classified a National Historical Park.  Supporters say it would create new jobs and help existing downtown businesses.

Creating a National Historic Park in Coltsville will create jobs and support downtown businesses? Really?! I’m having a difficult time imagining new waves of tourists or locals flocking to downtown Hartford to visit Coltsville, to see an old factory building. I’m sure some people will visit, but how much of a boost will this create?
