Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection announced late Saturday that a Connecticut fire crew is headed to Minnesota early this morning to help battle a forest fire in Superior National Forest, located near Ely. The Crew will gather at Connecticut DEEP Easter Headquarters, 209 Hebron Rd. (Rt. 66), at around 5 a.m. and the first group is expected to depart for Bradley Airport at around 6:30 a.m. Groups will continue to depart later in the morning. The crew consists of trained and certified DEEP staff as well as personnel from local fire departments. It is being sent as part of a mutual aid program administered by the U.S. Forest Service.
