Father Who Helped Fugitive Is Sentenced To Six Months

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) _ The 78-year-old father of a convicted Connecticut killer has been sentenced to six months in prison for helping his son flee to Mexico and sending him money.

Frederick Zachs of West Hartford was sentenced on Friday in U.S. District Court in New Haven.
Zachs pleaded guilty in June to harboring a fugitive. Federal prosecutors have said he should go to prison for six months for helping his 48-year-old fugitive son, Adam Zachs.

Frederick Zachs asked to be spared prison time, citing his fragile health and other factors.

Adam Zachs, who was convicted in 1988 of fatally shooting a man outside a restaurant, was captured in February.

    Travesty of justice. Wonder how uch time I would et for harboring a MURDERER and helping him leave the country and no doubt funnelling him money the whole time. No matter his health, he is a criminal and should be punished as such.
