Police: Man Arrested With 300 Bags Of Heroin

EAST HAMPTON, Conn. (AP) – East Hampton police say a 35-year-old man has been arrested on drug charges after an officer found him in a car with 300 bags of heroin.

Luis Rodriguez, of Hartford, is being held on $50,000 bond on charges of narcotics possession and intent to sell. The driver of the car, 40-year-old Mildred Cuascut of Hartford, is being held on $10,000 bond for a probation violation and motor vehicle charges.

Police say Cuascut was stopped as part of a routine motor vehicle check at about 3:15 p.m. Sunday in East Hampton. It was discovered that she was wanted for violating probation and that her license is suspended. Her passenger, Rodriguez, was found to have the heroin.

The two will appear in Middlesex Superior Court in Middletown on Monday.
