HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) _ A Puerto Rican nationalist who was arrested last week in the 1983 robbery of $7 million from an armored car depot is making his first court appearance in Connecticut.
The FBI says 65-year-old Norberto Gonzalez Claudio was arrested last week in Puerto Rico after more than 25 years on the run.
He is to be arraigned Friday afternoon in U.S. federal court in Hartford.
Gonzalez was allegedly involved in the heist at a West Hartford depot as a member of the militant independence group Los Macheteros. He faces charges including bank robbery, transportation of stolen money and conspiracy.
His older brother, Avelino, was sentenced last year to seven years in prison after spending more than two decades as a fugitive for his role in the heist.
