Police: Driver, Under The Influence, Flees Rt. 9 Crash

A Middletown man is under arrest after State Police say he crashed his vehicle into another vehicle on Route 9 in Berlin early Saturday and then left the scene. Police say Matthew Tuttle, 55, was operating under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

The crash occurred on Route 9 southbound around 12:45 a.m., said police. Tuttle was later located in Middletown and arrested on charges of evading, driving under the influence, and failure to drive in the proper lane, said authorities.

Tuttle is due in New Britain Superior Court on May 15. He’s currently free on bond.
