Fire At UHart Dorm Leads to Evacuation

A fire at a University of Hartford residence hall forced the evacuation of the building and displaced several students.

The fire was reported inside the Village Apartments just before 7:30 Thursday night.   Two units had smoke and water damage as firefighters put the flames out.  Everyone was allowed back in around 9:00.

The good news is that everyone got out safely.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, although a university spokesman says it started in the kitchen of a second-floor suite.
