Governor Appoints Harper To Supreme Court

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) _ Gov. Dannel P. Malloy has appointed Appellate Court Judge Lubbie Harper Jr. to Connecticut’s Supreme Court.

The Democratic governor announced Harper’s nomination on Wednesday.

He still needs legislative confirmation.

Harper will fill the seat vacated by former Justice Joette Katz, who was appointed commissioner of the Department of Children and Families.
Harper is a native of New Haven and a 1975 graduate of the University of Connecticut School of Law. He was first elevated to the bench by former Gov. John G. Rowland in 1997. Former Gov. M. Jodi Rell named him to the Appellate Court in 2005.
