Weather Hurts Blood Donations
The American Red Cross Connecticut Blood Services Region has announced a statewide appeal for blood donors through Feb. 15. The Red Cross says recent winter weather has resulted in cancellation of about 1,800 blood donations in Connecticut, and about 18,000 natiowide. It’s the lowest January blood supply the Red Cross has seen in a decade.
On Monday, Governor Dannel Malloy, a blood donor himself since 1974, visited a blood drive at the University of Connecticut Law School to contribute.
