A Canterbury man died Saturday morning after State Police say the pickup truck he was driving left Cemetery Road in Canterbury, went down an embankment, and rolled onto its roof into a small river. The 1991 Chevrolet was in roughly four feet of water, said police.

The sole occupant of the truck, identified as Max Anctil, 24, of Bingham Road, was taken to Backus Hospital in Norwich, where he succumbed to his injuries, said police.

The crash, which occurred around 5:30 a.m., remains under investigation.
