Another Arrest in Poll Worker's Death

WATERBURY, Conn. (AP) _ Waterbury police say they’ve arrested a second man in the beating death of a city election worker who was robbed as he walked to a polling place on Election Day.

Authorities charged 22-year-old Johnny Martinez of Queens, N.Y., on Sunday night with felony murder and robbery. He was held on $1 million bail and is to be arraigned Monday at Waterbury Superior Court. It’s not clear whether he has a lawyer.

Police say 48-year-old Arnald Gonzalez was randomly attacked Nov. 2 by a gang of thieves suspected in other robberies. Authorities say Gonzalez died from a blow to the head.

Police say they’ve also arrested the alleged getaway driver, 23-year-old Manuel Vasquez of Springfield, Mass., and are looking for the man they say struck Gonzalez, 22-year-old Michael Mark of Waterbury.
