NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) – Police say an argument at a New Haven house party ended with one person dead of stab wounds and a resident of the home facing a murder charge.
Authorities say 23-year-old Josiah Alexander of New Haven was stabbed in the chest and leg at the party shortly after midnight on Sunday. He was taken to St. Raphael hospital where he later died.
Police responded to the hospital after getting a call from emergency room staff.
They then went to the site of the stabbing on Westerleigh Road where they arrested 21-year-old Daniel Petrillo of New Haven, a resident of the home.
Petrillo is scheduled to appear in court Monday. It was not immediately clear if he had a lawyer.
Alexander’s death is the city’s 22nd homicide of the year.
