Meriden Police Investigate Pair of Armed Robberies

Meriden Police are investigating a pair of armed robberies which occurred within minutes of each other Friday night.

The first occurred around 7:17 p.m. at the Family Market at 448 Center Street. Police say a black male entered the store carrying a blue bag and displayed a pistol. He made off with about $480 in cash, said authorities. Investigators believe the suspect left in a waiting vehicle.

About 15 minutes later, police say three men wearing black hooded sweatshirts robbed the Meriden Citgo at 133 Chamberlain Highway. They displayed a pistol and stole $200 in cash and several packs of cigarettes, said police. The suspects were last seen running behind the gas station.

No serious injuries were reported in either incident. Police ask anyone with information on the robberies to call them at 203-630-6201.
