Fire Destroys Newtown Home; Family Escapes

Fire destroys a home on a Newtown horse farm, but the residents were able to escape. Televised reports say the owner discovered the fire in a garage and rushed to get his family out of the house. The 30 stabled horses on the property were far enough away to avoid harm. A half-dozen fire companies responded. The property, on Morgan drive in Sandy Hook, is not close to a water source.
