HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) _ U.S. Rep. John Larson, the fourth ranking Democrat in the House, has easily won re-election to a seventh term in Connecticut’s 1st Congressional District.
Larson, the head of the Democratic Caucus, beat Ann Brickley, a former executive at General Electric and a political novice.
In a district where Democrats outnumber Republicans by an almost 3-to-1 one margin, Larson still had almost $859,000 left to spend at the start of October. Brickley struggled to raise money and had just over $35,000 in her coffers.
The race also included Green Party candidate Ken Krayeske, a former freelance journalist best known for confronting University of Connecticut basketball coach Jim Calhoun about his salary, an exchange he used in Internet ads for his campaign.
