Two Killed While Changing Flat on I-95

DARIEN, Conn. (AP) _ Authorities say two men who were changing a flat tire on the side of Interstate 95 in Darien were fatally hit by a car, whose driver fled the scene but was caught later.

State police say 19-year-old Felipe Chagas, of Bethel, and 22-year-old Lucas Silva, of Stamford, were killed early Saturday.

Shortly after the accident, Darien police spotted the vehicle that hit them near exit 10 on Interstate 95 southbound. The driver, 39-year-old Stamford woman Candice Blanks, was arrested on charges of two counts of vehicular manslaughter, DWI, failure to maintain lane and evading responsibility. She was being held on $250,000 bond.
