A multi vehicle accident on Route 44 near Mountain Brook Road in West Hartford Friday afternoon left a Canton woman in critical condition.According to police  a Jeep Cherokee driven by a 17 year old  fom Canton crossed from the eastbound into the westbound lanes just after 2 pm and struck a car driven by 67 year old Marcia Marstead .Her car became airborne and was struck by a third vehicle driven by 56 year old Edward Saillant II of Avon.
Marstead was taken to St. Francis Hospital with life-threatening injuries.Saillant and the 17 year old suffered minor injuries.

A cat in Marstead’s car was not injured,and  was taken to the West Hartford Animal Control Unit for safekeeping.West Hartford Police  continue to investigate and no charges have been filed.There was also a second three vehicle crash behind the  initial accident.There were no injuries in that crash
