HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) _ Connecticut public health officials say a Hartford resident has tested positive for the West Nile virus, the ninth reported case in the state this year.
The state Department of Public Health announced Monday that the unidentified state resident, who is between 50 and 59 years old, was hospitalized earlier this month for meningitis and lab tests found the presence of antibodies to West Nile.
Officials say they have found mosquitoes that have tested positive for the disease in 23 Connecticut cities. Others who have contracted West Nile this year were from Bridgeport, Clinton, Greenwich, New Haven, Stamford and Trumbull.
