Baby Arrives on Route 2A; Mom and Daughter Doing Fine

MONTVILLE, Conn. (AP) _ A 20-year-old Connecticut woman and her baby are resting comfortably at a hospital after two state troopers and a local officer helped her deliver her daughter on the side of a state highway in Montville.

Police say they were called to Route 2A at 3:42 a.m. Friday on a report of a woman in labor. Troopers and Montville police responded immediately and found the woman in the front seat of a vehicle. They say the baby was born at 3:47 a.m.

Trooper Lori Foster and Sgt. Troy Gelinas of the state police and Montville Officer Addison Saffioti helped deliver the baby on the side of the road.

State police say the woman and her child were brought to Backus Hospital in Norwich and are reported in good condition. Their names haven’t been released.
