EAST HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) _ A Connecticut college is on the hunt for its first mascot.
Goodwin College in East Hartford says it wants to create a new tradition, and has put out a call to students, alumni and others for suggestions.
The new mascot cannot be a Husky, Hawk, Blue Devil or any of the other mascots already used by other Connecticut colleges and universities.
Goodwin is taking suggestions through Oct. 11, and a selection panel plans to narrow it down to five finalists for a vote in November among students, employee and alumni.
The 2,100-student college was founded in 1999 after evolving from a business school that had operated since 1962. It became accredited in 2004 and has seen enrollment jump by double-digit percentages in recent years.
