As the spring weather appears, this time of the year presents the perfect opportunity to get rid of your winter cabin fever and attend an event together. Connecticut’s local theaters and attractions are hosting unique live events this spring. The events listed below are tailored to a wide range of ages, while some are a perfect fit for a family of all ages.
Day Out With Thomas

The whole family will enjoy a Day Out With Thomas, along the Ready, Set, Go Tour. Thomas the Tank Engine has come to Essex this April. The tour dates are April 16, 17, 23, 24, 30 and May 1, 2016. Thomas is bringing along his friends Percy and Sir Topham Hatt. Admission includes a train ride, unlimited carnival rides among five ride choices, face painting, child friendly activities such as coloring, a play area, a magic show and a music show. Don’t fret over parking; it’s free. Admission is also free for children under two years of age. For those visitors over two, the cost for admission is $24 per person.

Cirque Du Soleil’s Ovo

Families with older children or mixed aged children might be attracted to a Cirque Du Soleil show. Cirque Du Soleil’s Ovo is coming to the XL Center in Hartford, Connecticut at the end of the spring season in June. Ovo is geared towards a more mature audience, meaning it may not be a match for young children. Cirque Du Soleil is known for their amazing live productions, including acrobatics and dance. Ovo will also be coming to the Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport from June 8th to June 12th.

Generations of children have fallen in love with Clifford the Big Red Dog, from reading the books to watching him on TV. This April, the Clifford The Big Red Dog show comes to life at Foxwood’s Fox Theater. Clifford will be bringing along Emily Elizabeth and a handful of their friends from home at Birdwell Island. Children watching the show will be given the opportunity to stand up to dance and sing along to this musical.

Connecticut’s own Brass City Ballet is celebrating its 30th anniversary with the audience at the Palace Theater. The amazingly talented dancers will bring to life a fan favorite, Cinderella. Bring the family to the ballet to see this live performance that includes elaborate costumes and graceful dancing. This production is appropriate for all ages, and the performance will be sure to fulfill a little girl’s dream with a combination of the fairytale and dance.

New Haven’s Shubert Theatre will be hosting Peter Rabbit Tales. This cute rendition is a family friendly musical that will be fun for everyone. The live musical is based on the three rabbit tales written by Beatrix Potter. The three tales are The Tale of Peter Rabbit, The Tale of Benjamin Bunny and The Tale of Mr. Tod. This live event is most appropriate for younger children.
