Every year, the New Haven Free Public Library brings a little sass and celebration for Mardi Gras. Its Mardi Gras Masquerade Madness celebration is a fundraising event for the city and its library. This event is tailored toward adults. It will be held in the main library from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, February 17.

A true celebration of Louisiana culture will be heard at the Infinity Music Hall on Fat Tuesday. Legendary musician Stanley “Buckwheat” Dural Jr., also known as Buckwheat Zydeco, will be performing for an intimate crowd of 500 people. Buckwheat Zydeco is the king of Louisiana Zydeco music and has even been featured on “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.” Food and drinks are available before the show in the bistro. The show starts at 8 p.m. Tickets range from $34-$44 per person.

You don’t want to miss the action taking part at the Mardi Gras Carnival dance and dinner event on Saturday, February 21, 2015. Thanks in part to Kiwanis International located in Weston, Connecticut, you can celebrate with rich culture, food and fun. The carnival will be held inside the hall of the Norfield Church in Weston. The menu will include Creole and Cajun food and will be prepared by chefs flown right from New Orleans. Live music will be provided by Otis and the Hurricanes.
