Visiting Geronimo is like walking into an upscale Mexican cantina that has been transported to New Haven. It serves up a mean fish taco prepared with yellowfin tuna, jicama and salsa flavored with papaya, mango, mustard and rosemary. It is also worth trying the catch of the day, a taco made with the chef’s choice of fish. And be sure to take advantage of Taco Tuesdays at Geronimo, where you can get two tacos and a house margarita for just $12.

New Canaan, CT 06840
As its name suggests, this New Canaan bar and restaurant takes tequila seriously enough that it is the only New England establishment accredited by the Tequila Regulatory Council. So while you will definitely want to peruse its tequila menu, its fish taco selection is no slouch either. It has a Baja fish taco made with Pacific cod filet, shredded cabbage and its “salsa secreta” in a corn tortilla. Also tempting are its grilled fish tacos — swordfish with guacamole and lime juice and yellowfin tuna with mango salsa.
15 Harbor Point Road
Stamford, CT 06902
Chef Aaron Sanchez, a veteran of popular Food Network shows like “Iron Chef America” and “Chopped,” opened his latest venture, Paloma, at Stamford’s Harbor Point in the summer of 2014 to great acclaim. The Latin bar and grill offers an enticing assortment of tostadas — which are, in essence, flat tacos. Among the top choices are crab with chile arbol aoli and avovado puree, and octopus with green onions and chorizo aioli. They will taste even better alongside one of Paloma’s craft cocktails, and outside with its beautiful view of the water.
