In addition to offering a continued education to adults who never had the opportunity to graduate from high school, the New Haven Adult Education Center also extends its curriculum to focus on several trade skills and computer training. Some adults sign up for the class to either strengthen the knowledge that they already have about computers or to learn the basics from the very beginning. The downtown New Haven main library offers computer classes for adults on an ongoing basis, free of charge. The classes take place at the library during the week, but the dates and times are subject to change. Usually, classes will meet in the morning between 10 a.m. or 11 a.m. or during the evenings between 5 and 6 p.m. Classes that are offered include Introduction to Word, Introduction to Excel, Introduction to PowerPoint and Google and photo editing courses. Should you need training in something specific, you can call the library and speak with an instructor, and they will work with you.

ConnCat offers several programs for the adult looking to gain the knowledge of new programs to either further their career or choose a brand new career path. The programs are designed to fill a demand for more working professionals in specific fields. Computer knowledge and skills are learned in the Billings and Codings course. As a part of the course outline, 40 hours are dedicated to an introduction to computers, in an effort to teach the basics of coding and billing. Connecticut’s New Horizon center offers assistance in various forms of technology for all persons in need. Their programs not only train adults in computers and computer programming, but they come complete with certifications to add to your resume when listing job skills and training. Connecticut offers three locations located in New Haven, Fairfield and Hartford. The instructors are all working professionals and experts in their particular field.
