Feeding Time
Date: June 20 from 8-10 a.m.; July 18 from 8-10 a.m.; August 22 from 8-10 a.m.

‘Feeding Time’ is a new program that the Norwalk Maritime Aquarium offers to families on one Saturday of each Summer month.  It begins with “feeding time” for you – the visitor.  They provide a family style buffet breakfast in the Cascade Cafe, followed by breakfast for some the animals, where you and the family get to participate in feeding the animals. Experience life underwater for animals like horseshoe crabs, rays, diamondback terrapins and get a behind the scenes look as the professionals feed the sharks. You and the family will gain more information on each animal and their eating habits as you enjoy a day at the aquarium.  Children must be at least 5 years old to participate.

R/V Spirit Of The Sound
Aboard the Spirit Of The Sound Vessel
Date: 1 p.m. Saturdays in June; 1 p.m. daily in July & August; 1 p.m. Saturdays & Sundays in Sept. & Oct.

This family adventure is designed as a 2 1/2 hour study that cruises along the Long Island Sound and allows those on board to have a hands on experience with marine life.  Some animals are actually brought on deck to allow physical contact and up close and personal research experience.  Fish, crabs, squid, other animals are just some of what passengers get to experience.  This voyage even provides a video microscope to enhance the observation of smaller animals.  The vessel holds up to twenty nine passengers for a very intimate and knowledgeable experience.  All participants must be over 42 inches tall and if under 21 years of age, accompanied by an adult.Related: Best Places For Kids Birthday Parties

Shark Dives
Date: Offered most Thursdays, Saturdays & Sundays at 12:15 & 2:15 p.m

Experience the excitement of watching someone swim alongside big sharks, not in a movie theater, but right in front of you. Families can reserve their spot to participate in the Shark Dive session, where trained professionals jump into a tank of water filled with 6 and 7 foot sharks, and provide direct communication with you while actually inside of the tank.  Through a communication system linked to the diver, families can pass along their request or questions to the diver while watching them in action.  It is suggested that adults call to ensure the dive session is still on for that day as volunteer divers may not be available on the specified day.

Maritime Sleepovers

Call For ReservationsIs your child adventurous and loves everything about marine life? Do they think outside the box?  If so, a regular sleepover with friends just won’t do the trick but an adventurous sleepover with the fish just might.  The Maritime Aquarium offers group sleepovers with family and friends where you experience a guided tour of the Aquarium, “aquatic games”, snacks, and crafts and a private seal show.  Dinner and breakfast is provided and each child will receive a customized program patch for participating in the sleepover.  This aquarium also offers birthday parties as well.

Summer Sound Science Camp
Date: Starts June 22, 2015

During the Summer months the Maritime Aquarium offers exciting weekly classes for children focusing on Maritime Science.  Classes that are shaped for the enthused Jr. Marine Biologist, Jr. Aquarist, Ocean Explorer and more, are offered at different times for different ages.  Everything from experiments, to drawing sketches of the animals, to how properly feed a shark will be covered during these sessions. To participate, your child must be the listed age, specified for each program, by the start of the program.  You must pre-register for each program and full payment is required before the start of the program.  You can get more information on the website.
