(CBS Connecticut)  — Longtime Connecticut radio reporter Fran Schneidau died Tuesday night, friends reported. She was 79.

Schneidau worked for WCBS 880 for almost 40 years, before retiring earlier this year as Connecticut bureau chief. WCBS is owned by the same company that owns WTIC, Entercom.

Schneidau also worked at WICC in Bridgeport.
