STORRS, Conn. (CBS Connecticut and AP) – A couple hundred fans braved the drizzle and cold to cheer on the University of Connecticut’s women’s basketball team as it left Gampel Pavilion for a trip to the Final Four in Texas.

Guard Kia Nurse briefly addressed the crowd, saying the team was excited to get to Dallas and “finish what we started.”

The undefeated Huskies, who routed Oregon 90-52 on Monday night in Bridgeport, are in the national semifinals for an 18th time and 10th straight season.  They will be trying for the program’s 12th national title and fifth in a row.

Freshman Larissa Compito from Washingtonville, New York, was among the cheering fans. She says the team’s record 111-game winning streak has instilled a sense of pride on campus.
