BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (AP) — A federal jury has returned verdicts in favor of the city of Hartford and police in a lawsuit alleging several officers used excessive force on members of a family.
But the Bridgeport jury couldn’t reach a decision on excessive force claims against two of the officers.
Fabian Edwards, his mother, Elizabeth Edwards, and his brothers, Kenville Edwards and KeithMichael Mitto allege the officers assaulted them and used stun guns and pepper spray on them for no reason at their home in 2012.
The Hartford Courant reports the jury found in favor of Christopher May, Matthew Cornell and Eric Baumgarten on most claims, but was hung on a claim against Cornell and a claim against May.
The plaintiffs’ lawyer says he expects to retry those cases.
