(WALLINGFORD,Conn./CBS Connecticut) –  A 64 year old East Longmeadow, Massachusetts man has waived extradition and  will be arraigned  in Meriden Superior Court Tuesday in connection with a July   2  stabbing at the Judd Square  Condominiums in Wallingford.Edward Hoffman Jr. was  arrested  with the assistance of East Longmeadow Police last Thursday  , as a fugitive  from justice.

Wallingford Police  Detectives took custody of  Hoffman Monday. he is charged with Criminal Attempt to Commit Assault in the First Degree and  Assault in the Second Degree.He is being held on $50,000 bond.

According to police,Hoffman was visiting the  victim ,who  was awakened by Hoffman stabbing them in the buttocks.While trying to get away, Hoffman stabbed the victim in the abdomen and  legs.In self defense, the victim stabbed Hoffman in the leg.

Police  do not know what provoked Hoffman.The victim will not face any charges.
