“Purple Rain” Director, Quinnipiac Alum, Releases Statement

(Hamden, Conn./CBS Connecticut) – The man who directed Prince’s seminal film “Purple Rain”, a Quinnipiac University alumnus, is expressing his thoughts on the icon’s passing.

Albert Magnoli, in a statement released through Quinnipiac, says “the news of Prince’s sudden and unexpected passing is very difficult to process”.

Magnoli is a 1974 graduate of Quinnipiac, earning a bachelor’s degree in English.

He says Prince was his “creative partner and friend.  We shared tremendous times together during and after the making of ‘Purple Rain.’”

Magnoli also edited “Purple Rain” and co-authored the movie’s screenplay.
