It’s not an understatement or an exaggeration to say that today’s UConn-Cincinnati game in the quarterfinals of the AAC tournament is THE MOST IMPORTANT game in the country when it comes to NCAA tournament hopes.

The loser between the Huskies and Bearcats CAN NOT make it into the NCAA tourney. No way, no how. Too many league champs have lost in their conference tournaments and will scoop up at large berths that could have gone to teams from the AAC. Even with a win today, UConn and/or Cincinnati may have to win one more games to be sure their name is called by the NCAA tournament committee.

The two games between these teams in the regular season ended up with Cincinnati wins but they took different paths to get there. In the game in Hartford, UConn got a lead but Cincinnati rallied, getting a controversial three point play by Gary Clark with 12 seconds left to win. In game two in Ohio, the Bearcats jumped on top ,UConn got the game tied at 20 and then Cincinnati took charge. The Huskies got out toughed at Fifth Third Arena and today have to match the Bearcats grit and determination on the boards. It’s a tough assignment, Cincinnati is second in conference games in rebound margin and leads the league in blocks and steals. UConn is #1 in scoring defense and field goal percentage defense. So again in a game between these teams, points will be at a premium

Broadcast time from the Amway Center is 1:45. Hope you can join us.
