(Meriden, Conn./CBS Connecticut) – Meriden police say a city man was struck and killed by a vehicle as he was leaving a pizza restaurant Tuesday evening.

At around 6:00 p.m., officers say they were dispatched to the area of East Main Street near Center Street.

Sixty-eight-year-old Jack Coursey was crossing East Main after leaving Uptown Pizza when he was struck by a vehicle driven by 35-year-old Jay Quigley, also of Meriden.

Police say Quigley was traveling eastbound.

Coursey was taken to Hartford Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Quigley was treated for facial cuts at Midstate Medical Center.

The accident is still under investigation.
