(Haddam, Conn./CBS Connecticut)  The Department of Energy and Environmental Protection says a 23-year old woman suffered severe lacerations to her lower extremities in a boating accident on the Connecticut River in Haddam Sunday.  DEEP says the woman and another person, who had jumped off the back of the stopped 26 foot open power boat to swim in the river, were struck by the boat’s propeller when a man onboard restarted the vessel to move it closer to them.  The woman was taken to Hartford Hospital where she was reported in stable condition.  DEEP says the man who restarted the boat was charged by Environmental Conservation Police with first degree reckless operation of a boat while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.
