(CBS Connecticut) — United Technologies held a groundbreaking ceremony today for a new building in East Hartford.
UTC Facilities Operation Manger Kevin Grechika says research in the structure will include work on sensors that allow robots to be have more information about their environment, and to be more autonomous.
“It can be used for machining, or for vehicles, or for different kinds of control systems in buildings,” Grechika said.
Last year, the state granted UTC $400-million in tax breaks.
In exchange, the company promised to stay in the state, and construct new facilities here.
