Greetings from Orlando!  Sure it’s 70 degrees… BUT it’s a tease… 12 hours from now, we’ll be headed home. As the Huskies visit the UCF Knights. Sunday, UConn beat a good USF team…by 42. They just didn’t beat them, they demoralized them. It’s nothing new, they do it to a lot of good teams. It’s what separates UConn from most everyone else. Sure part of it is talent, which they have plenty of. It’s the unrelenting hustle and trying to outwork you is what’s the difference.

Add to the fact that the Huskies have a knack for putting the pressure on the opposition on both ends of the floor. Sure the defense is much improved, but the offensive pressure is as impressive. Normally 3-4 players get to double figures each game..not to mention the many others that can chip in with 6-9pts…It’s impressive.

I sound like a broken record..But what Moriah Jefferson and Morgan Tuck have brought on a consistent basis take so much pressure off Breanna Stewart and Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis. No question Jefferson’s playing her best basketball of her UConn career. Not just the points, but she’s taking GREAT care of the ball. Just one turnover in the last 4 games. Her decision making has been spot on and if you saw the way Mo was able to run the break Sunday, well you’ve seen it for years with all the great points guards here, it can be down right devastating to the opposition. The eight point run in 53 seconds that turned a 16pt lead to 24 was down right impressive…The two threes off transition started by a turnover or block just so enjoyable to watch.

There will be plenty of these games over the next two months. The lone exception you would think will be South Carolina on February 9th. The focus of course is to get better regardless who they play. And that starts tonight a Knights team that is 6-11 and losers of 9 of their last 11. Then Cincinnati on Sunday…6:30 pregame tonight w Deb and I from the CTE Arena..Hope you can join us !
